Girls’ soccer looks for 8th consecutive league championship

The Sierra Canyon girls soccer team is once again having a great year. The team has been playing well and is expecting another good run in the playoffs.

Nevada-bound Jessica FitzWilliam, Colorado Mesa-bound Bobbie Golick and Bri Myrick give the Trailblazers veteran, experienced leadership. The team is currently 9-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in league play before games played the week of Jan. 21st.

A trio of juniors; Jazzy Campbell, Tatum Solis and Maya Swinton are doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Sierra Canyon coach Kristy Walker has been impressed

“These three are leading us in goals and assists,” Walker said. “They are all a big part of what we do.”

The Trailblazers have a lot to look forward to, as well. Walker is excited about freshmen Maya Bowens, Victoria Balbin, Lolo Retsky, Srvani Khanal and Alyssa Abulaf.

“The freshmen are having a significant role in the success of the team,” Walker said. “We count on them tremendously.”

Sierra Canyon is going for their eighth Gold Coast League championship. The Trailblazers won Southern Section championships in 2015 and 2017 in Divisions 5 and 4, respectively.

Sierra Canyon went on to win So. Cal. Regional title in both years, as well.
