Sierra Canyon wins double-OT thriller to win back to back championships
The Sierra Canyon Trailblazers (14-0) pulled out a double overtime thriller against the Corona del Mar Seakings (12-2) 36-35 to claim their third CIF Championship in school history. Head Coach Jon Ellinghouse decided to go for two points with the Trailblazers trailing 35-34 and the move paid off. Sophomore quarterback Johnny Hawkins handed the ball off to senior running back Bobby Cole who found a gapping hole for the three yard two point conversion and the victory was sealed. The Trailblazers won back to back championships after defeating San Dimas 20-0 last year in the Division 9 finals. The Trailblazers were moved up to Division 4 this year and showed they belonged.
