Softball: Sierra Canyon handles Cleveland and Chatsworth in opening week


Sierra Canyon softball 2-0 to start the year

The Sierra Canyon softball team got its season off on the right foot with two victories this past week against Cleveland and Chatsworth.

The Trailblazers beat Cleveland 10-0 and Chatsworth 11-0, two solid shut outs to begin the year.

Duke-bound Hailey Shuler threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts in the win against Cleveland.

Shuler was equally impressive at the plate with two home runs, a double and three RBI’s.

Nina Johnson hit two home runsĀ  with three RBI’s.

Lianna Lara homered, doubled and had an RBI.

Sophia Sarni had a two-RBI double and Peyton Jackaon had an RBI.

In Friday’s game just down the street on DeSoto Ave., Sophia Debs tried to match Shuler’s performance with a one-hitter and 16 strikeouts.

Debs homered and had two RBI’s.

Shuler belted two solo home runs.

Lara had a home run and two RBI’s. Tatum Fisher did the same.

Sarni, Johnson and Peyton Jackson each had an RBI.

Sierra Canyon is off for a few days before a nonleague game at Rio Mesa Thursday.
