LAWNDALE — Lawndale High running back Jordan WIlmore has a scholarship offer to USC.

Wilmore showed why Friday night in a 25-22 nonleague victory against Sierra Canyon. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound backfield standout rushed for four touchdowns, including a 99 yarder and came up with a short 1-yard score with 1:32 remaining for the game winner.

It was a disappointing loss for the Trailblazers, who led and controlled throughout. Sierra Canyon just couldn’t put it away. Lawndale never backed down and always looked to Wilmore  when it needed a big play. More often than not, Wilmore came through.

E.J. Gable scored two touchdowns to lead Sierra Canyon. Sophomore DJ. Harvey caught a touchdown pass from sophomore Chayden Peery but it wasn’t enough.

Sierra Canyon (0-2) led 14-7 at halftime and 22-19 in the second half.

The Trailblazers will be back in action at 7 p.m. Friday night against Redondo Union at Cal Lutheran Univ. in Thousand Oaks. Sierra Canyon will be looking for its first victory of the year before traveling to Valencia for a tough road matchup on Sept. 7th.
