Aidan Jones did well for himself at the prestigious Mt. SAC cross country Invitational last week.

Jones finished second in the Div. IV varsity race. Jones was part of a large contingent to break out to the lead in the first mile and was one of only two runners in the second mile. Jonesbattled fiercly to the finish line coming up just short. However, Jones keeps making steady progress toward qualifying for the state championships.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions (93 degrees), Jones still managed to improve his PR on the course by more than 30 seconds.

“Aidan was great out there,” Sierra Canyon cross country coach Troy Samuels said. “It was a fantastic race on a famed course in a famed meet. It’s the largest Invitational in the world.”

Don’t forget to catch the boys and girls teams in their final meet of the regular season Friday at Paraclete.
