The Sierra Canyon football team was included in the Division 1 playoffs for the first time in school history when playoff pairings were announced Sunday morning.

The Trailblazers (10-0), who won the Mission League for the second consecutive year, is seeded No. 3 and will host Santa Margarita from the Trinity League at 7 p.m. Friday.

An opening round win will likely produce a semifinal matchup against No. 2 Mater Dei.

Sierra Canyon is the defending Div. 2 champion and a six-time Southern Section champion.

Wyatt Becker, Dane Dunn, Terrell “Choppa” Cooks, UCLA-bound Kwazi Gilmer, USC-bound Xavier Jordan, Cameron Mitchell and freshman Jaxsen Stokes have been leading the offense.

The defense has only given up more than 14 points in a game once, a 35-28 Mission League victory against Serra of Gardena.

Jae’on Young, Carmel Crunk, Carnell Ferguson, Nevada Miller, Madden Riordan have been leading the defense.

Other Division 1 games include San Clemente at top-seeded St. John Bosco, Orange Lutheran at No. 4 Corona Centennial and JSerra at No. 2 Mater Dei.
