The Sierra Canyon football team took care of business Friday with a 56-0 nonleague victory against Green Valley (Nevada).

The Trailblazers didn’t get caught looking ahead to its bye week and a huge week 4 showdown with Orange Lutheran.

Sierra Canyon (3-0) scored on its very first play from scrimmage, a 39-yard scoring strike from Wyatt Becker to Xavier Jordan.

That was just the tip of the iceberg. The Trailblazers racked up 28 first quarter points and led 42-0 at halftime.

The second half was played with a running clock.

Becker finished 11 of 15 for 262 yards passing and four touchdowns. Becker also rushed for two touchdowns, scampers of eight and 14 yards.

Jesse Lepore gained 56 yards on five carries and scored from 26 yards out in the second half. Dane Dunn rushed for a 16-yard touchdown.

Jordan (USC) caught two touchdown passes for 116 yards, UCLA-bound Kwazi Gilmer caught three passes for 62 yards, including a 45-yard scoring strike.

Cole Crawford had a short 1-yard touchdown catch.

Madden Riordan contributed an interception for the Trailblazers, looking to qualify for the Division 1 playoffs for the first time in school history.

A win against Orange Lutheran at 7 p.m. on September 15th at Orange Coast College will go a long way in making that dream a reality. The Trailblazers lost a tight 42-40 Division 2 semifinal game against the Lancers in 2021 at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

Green Valley was held to 98 yards of offense and its two quarterbacks were sacked five times. The Gators only gained 36 yards rushing on 13 carries.

The one blemish for Sierra Canyon was 18 penalties for 194 yards, including 15 miscues in the first half.
