Girls Basketball: Sierra Canyon wins first two Mission League games


Sierra Canyon improves to 16-1 and 2-0

The Sierra Canyon girls basketball team is doing well on its quest to win another Southern Section Open Division championship.

The Trailblazers came back from Christmas break and won its first two Mission League games this week after a 96-39 victory against Harvard-Westlake and a 95-54 victory against Chaminade on the road.

Jerzy Robinson, a sophomore transfer from Arizona, scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Thursday in West Hills.

Louisville-bound Izela Arenas scored 23 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.

Mackenly Randolph chipped in 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Earlier in the week against HW, Randolph had 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Arenas poured in 25 points, had four rebounds and three steals all in the second half.

Robinson was stellar with 27 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

Sierra Canyon has another two Mission League contests next week, including a Thursday home game with Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks and new coach Jena Laolagi.
