Sierra Canyon’s Lyric Wilson/Betty Chen win Angelus League doubles championship

The girls tennis program at Sierra Canyon has been on a steady improvement under new coach Carlo Bertumen.

No More evidence is needed as the program has won two consecutive Angelus League championships and now boasts an individual doubles championship.

Lyric Wilson, a talented sophomore and junior Betty Chen teamed up this past week to win three matches at Weddington Tennis Center in Studio City.

Wilson and Chen knocked off Marymount’s Olivia Rossi and Amelia Reyes 6-0, 6-0; took down Immaculate Heart’s Mary Legaspi and Adrienne Griffin 6-1, 6-1 and shutout Immaculate Heart’s Meha Holden and Phoenix Abraham in the finals 6-0, 6-0.

Wilson and Chen were 36-2 in the three matches to dominate the doubles championship.
