Hot streak continues into playoffs, Trailblazers win 3-1
The Sierra Canyon baseball team defeated Kaiser 3-1, to advance to the round of 16 in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs. Senior Chris Torres pitched a complete game as the Trailblazers ran their win streak to 20 games.
“Getting a run in the first inning helped me settle into my game,” said Chris Torres. “I trusted my defense to make the plays that mattered and they didn’t disappoint.”
The defensive play of the game came in the fifth inning with two outs and the score tied. Left fielder Hunter Prabhu threw out a Cats runner at home to end the threat.
Senior Noah Levin delivered the game winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and the score tied at 1-1. With one out, Levin lined a single into left field to score Aaron Gutierrez for the 2-1 lead. Senior Parker Gelfuso followed with a single to score Levin and the victory dance was set.
“Coming out and getting a Division 2 playoff win for the school is huge,” said Levin. “We cannot wait to get back at it on Tuesday in Tahquitz and live another day.”
