Softball: Sierra Canyon beats Louisville, loses a close one against Notre Dame


Sierra Canyon splits two Mission League games

The Sierra Canyon softball team had no issues with Louisville on Tuesday in a 7-1 Mission League victory.

Sophia Debs was in the circle and had 11 strikeouts.

Duke-bound Hailey Shuler homered, doubled and had two RBI’s.

Natalia Areliz had a hit, three RBI’s and stole a base.

Nina Peyton-Johnson had an RBI double.

Delilah Reynolds had two hits, including a double and stole a base.

In the 14-12 setback against Notre Dame, the Trailblazers trailed 10-0 before cutting the deficit to 10-9.

Notre Dame scored four runs in the seventh to create separation.

Sierra Canyon responded with three runs and had runners on second and third with two outs but a ground ball ended the game.

Sierra Canyon is now 6-4 and 3-2 in league. The Trailblazers should make the playoffs.
