CHATSWORTH, CA. — Sierra Canyon School is pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Meusborn as associate head coach for baseball.

Meusborn brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Sierra Canyon. Meusborn most recently coached at Chatsworth High School, where he built a national powerhouse in two separate stints at the school since 1990.

“This is an exciting opportunity,” Meusborn said. “I’ve been watching the school grow academically and athletically the past 10 years. It’s exciting to be part of this great community.”

“Sierra Canyon is very excited to have Tom as our associate head coach,” head coach Jerry Royster said. “I look forward to working with him and making our program one of the best in the Southern Section.”

Meusborn brings lofty credentials to the new position. Teams coached by Meusborn have won 677 games, 22 West Valley League championships and eight L.A. City Section championships. In addition, he has made 16 appearances at Dodger Stadium for championship games. Meusborn’s 2003 and 2004 teams were mythical national champions with a two-year combined record of 68-1.

“I can’t wait to get started and be a part of this great school,” Meusborn said. “I can’t wait to work at it and help get guys better. I can’t wait to help young guys develop as men, as players and for life beyond the diamond.”

Meusborn has been instrumental in the development of Major League baseball players Mike Moustakas, Matt Dominguez, Bryan Petersen, Josh Ravin as well as countless others that have gone onto college and professional careers. Moustakas won a World Series championship with the Kansas City Royals.

Sierra Canyon athletic director Rock Pillsbury commented on the hiring of Meusborn:

“To bring in a coach as good as Tom Meusborn is truly a blessing for Sierra Canyon. Tom has been successful at every stop. Tom is not only a great coach, but a great teacher of the game and a great role model for our student-athletes. We look forward to using his wealth of knowledge to help our players and program grow to new heights.”

Meusborn added: “I would like to thank the administration, Jim Skrumbis (Head of School) and Rock Pillsbury, for their efforts and support in making this happen. This is really exciting for me and my family.”
