ESPN heads to Sierra Canyon On January 4th

CHATSWORTH — The Sierra Canyon boys basketball program is pleased and excited to announce it will be playing a nationally televised game on ESPN on Friday, January 4th against Mayfair of Lakewood.

The game, which will tip off at 8:30 p.m. local time, will be the fifth appearance on an ESPN channel for the Trailblazers since 2015.

Sierra Canyon is the defending Calif. Open Div. state champion and features a star-studded senior core of Cassius Stanley, Scotty Pippen, Jr. and K.J. Martin. Stanley is expected to announce his college decision shortly among Kansas, Oregon and UCLA. Pippen is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and Martin is the son of former NBA No. 1 draft pick and all-star Kenyon Martin.

“To have ESPN come into our gymnasium is going to be an incredible experience,” said Athletic Director Rock Pillsbury. “Sierra Canyon has come a long way in a short amount of time and this is another feather in our cap.”

Tickets will go on sale via the internet at a later date. More details will follow soon.

Sierra Canyon also features Arizona-bound seven footer Christian Koloko, 6-foot-9 rising junior forward Terren Frank and fantastic freshman prospect Amari Bailey. Bailey’s dad played wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts in the mid-1990’s.

Mayfair features Div. 1 bound guard Josh Christopher, the brother for former Cal standout Patrick Christopher.

The game marks a very rare occurrence for ESPN in the Southern Section in California.
