The Sierra Canyon girls tennis team won its second consecutive Sunshine League championship this week after a 13-5 victory against Notre Dame Academy and an 11-7 triumph against Louisville.

Both matches were at Cal State Northridge.

Lyric Wilson (sophomore) and Ally Thau teamed up in doubles play to sweep at No. 1.

Bridgette Mertzel and Emma Nassiri also swept in doubles play. Sienna Martin and Hannah LaChappelle won two doubles sets.

Wilson showed her versatility two days later against Louisville sweeping at No. 1 singles. Wilson has not lost a singles set all year.

The doubles teams of Thau and Martin and Hannah LaChappelle and Nassiri each won two doubles sets. Mertzel and Danica Quinn also won two doubles sets.

“We have been getting better and better as the season has went on,” Sierra Canyon coach Carlo Bertumen said. “Lyric and Betty have been great in singles and we have been getting valuable points from our doubles when we need it.”

Sierra Canyon has one more nonleague match with Chaminade October 27th at 2:30 pm at CSUN.
