The Sierra Canyon girls volleyball team is seeded No. 4 in the Division 1 playoffs that begin Wednesday.

The Trailblazers, which won last years top division championship is in the same pool with top-seeded Mater Dei, Mission League-rival Marymount and No. 8 Palos Verdes.

The other pool features No. 2 Mira Costa, No. 3 Huntington Beach, No. 6 Alemany and No. 7 Los Alamitos.

Sierra Canyon will host Marymount this Wednesday and Palos Verdes on October 24th. The Trailblazers travel to Santa Ana to take on the Monarchs on October 28th.

Sierra Canyon is 33-5 overall and went unscathed in its 10 Mission League matches. The Trailblazers have won 18 consecutive best-of-5 matches and are 3-0 this year in matches that went the distance.

Sierra Canyon has not lost in California. Three setbacks came in Hawaii, one in Nevada and one in Arizona.

The team will lean on Boston College-bound Danica Rach, Hawaii-bound Maddie Way, George Washington-bound Taylor Treahy, Long Beach Poly-transfer Halie McGinest, setter Sade Ilawole, middle blocker Lola Brown and libero Lauren Lynch.

All are seniors except Lynch, who is a junior committed to San Diego. Another key contributor could be freshman Hanna McGinest.
