The Sierra Canyon girls volleyball team can’t be stopped.

The Trailblazers won their eighth consecutive match Thursday after an easy 9, 12, 11 sweep against Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks.

Hanna McGinest, a talented freshman, had 13 kills, seven digs, two blocks and two aces to lead Sierra Canyon (13-3).

Lola Brown had eight kills and five blocks and junior Lauren Lynch contributed 13 digs. Lynch is a libero committed to San Diego.

Sade Ilawole had an all-around balanced effort with 32 assists, seven aces and six digs.

The Trailblazers, who have not lost in California, jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first set.

“We took care of business in a timely fashion today,” Sierra Canyon coach Stefanie Wigfall said. “We knew what we had to do.”

Wigfall is in her 11th season guiding the Trailblazers and is closing in on 300 career victories, expected to come next season.

Sierra Canyon earlier in the week disposed of Santa Margarita Catholic of Rancho Santa Margarita in an 18, 20, 23 sweep.

The Eagles came in with a sparkling 11-0 record.

Boston College-bound Danica Rach had 11 kills, five digs, three aces and two blocks.

Ilawole had 26 assists, four digs and two blocks.

Lynch contributed 16 digs.

Sierra Canyon is rolling at just the right time. The Trailblazers open Mission League play next week with matches against Harvard-Westlake and Marymount.

Stiff playoff competition will come from Mira Costa, Mater Dei, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos and Orange Lutheran.
