History made, Cross-country wins league championship

History was made Tuesday afternoon. The Sierra Canyon girls cross country program won the Gold Coast League championship for the first time.
The girls team ended the regular league season as they opened it. Undefeated in all four league meets resulting in winning the league finals by 22 points to claim the title.
All a first for the Sierra Canyon cross country program.
In the girls varsity race, freshman Isis Diaz put on a spectacular show as she was the first to cross the finish line in 17:32. She outdistanced the closest competitor by one minute.
Rounding out the scoring was freshmen Celia Vaughn and Viktoria Balbin, senior Bobbie Golik and freshman Alissa Pfeffer. The girls team will compete next in the CIF-SS Prelims November 10 at Riverside City Cross Country Course.
Junior Aidan Jones ran a fantastic race to finish in fourth place in the boys varsity race. Aidan again narrowly missed breaking 16 minutes with a time of 16:05 Aidan’s effort landed him a spot in the upcoming CIF-SS Prelims.
The girls team had six runners finish with 1st and 2nd Team Honors (Isis, Celia, Viktoria, Bobbie, Alissa and Emily Chong). Aidan Jones finished with 1st Team Honors.
