The Sierra Canyon girls volleyball team is ready for the playoffs. The Trailblazers ended the regular season last week with easy victories against Campbell Hall and Paraclete. There will be no more easy matches. The Gold Coast League portion of the season is over.

Sierra Canyon was awarded the No. 4 seed in Division 1 for the second year in a row behind Redondo, Mater Dei and Marymount. The Trailblazers advanced to last year’s semifinals before succumbing to Mater Dei.

Sierra Canyon is hoping to make a deeper run this year behind Long Beach St.-bound Jaylen Jordan, junior setter Taylor Simpson, Addison Peeler, sophomore outside hitter Sidney Montgomery and freshman middle blocker Jaida Sione.

The Trailblazers had a wonderful regular season, only losing two 2-of-3 matches against Torrey Pines and Marin Catholic. Sierra Canyon went undefeated in league play for the fourth consecutive year and have now won 59 consecutive matches against the likes of Brentwood, Windward, Crossroads, Viewpoint, Campbell Hall and Paraclete. The Trailblazers also have won 151 consecutive sets in league play and are 177-2 in their last 179 sets played in league.

The girls open up with the winner of the Huntington Beach-Foothill match. Sierra Canyon will host at 6 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 30th in the gym. The semifinals will be Sat., Nov. 2 and could be at home.
