There is not much left for the Sierra Canyon girls volleyball team to do. The Trailblazers have only lost two best-of-three matches all year, are cruising through Gold Coast League competition and now turning their attention to a deep Div. 1 playoff run.

“We have had a tremendous year,” Sierra Canyon coach Stefanie Wigfall said. “We have done what we needed to do and now we want more. We want to make a splash in the playoffs. We got a taste last year in Div. 1. We want to learn and grow from that. We want to show it.”

Sierra Canyon just knocked off Windward 8, 11, 15 to run its record to 30-2 overall and 9-0 in league play.

Long Beach St.-bound Jaylen Jordan had 19 kills and freshman Jaida Sione had 14 kills to lead the Trailblazers. Sidney Montgomery and Taylor Simpson chipped in five and four kills, respectively in the relatively easy victory.

“We are winning in three sets all the tie in league, but we are being pushed a bit,” Wigfall said. “We still have to execute properly. We need to stay sharp and crisp going into playoffs.”

The victory gave Sierra Canyon its 56th consecutive victory in league play and 142nd consecutive set won in a row in league play. Sierra Canyon is now 168-2 in its last 170 sets played in league.

“The streaks are great,” Wigfall said. “We really don’t pay much attention to it. We know its there because its talked about and we have ears. It’s not something that’s a focus. We want to play well and win matches.”

The Trailblazers finish the season at Crossroads at 6 p.m. Thursday before two home matches next week against Campbell Hall and Paraclete on Monday, Oct. 14 and Wednesday, Oct. 16 to end the regular season.
